This month, the super lovely Beckiee who is a wedding & event manager at the beautiful Glen Lodge Bawburgh. She joins me on my blog to answer our quick-fire ‘get to know you’ questions! I worked with Beckiee for the amazing couple Mr & Mrs Thirtles wedding and she is always bubbly and smily every time I see her.
I’m totally delighted to introduce Beckiee so that she can tell you a little bit more about herself ….
Hi! I’m Beckiee and I’m the Wedding & Event Manager for Glen Lodge, Bawburgh. I’ve always worked in the hospitality industry and thrive in the fast-paced environment. It has always been my dream to play a part in the planning of someone’s wedding day, and I am exceptionally lucky to be able to do this for a living at such a beautiful venue. I have lived in Norfolk all my life and absolutely love the countryside and being outdoors on a warm and sunny day. When I’m not working, I love spending quality time making memories with my family and friends, and taking every opportunity to book a holiday and travel as often as I can.
How long have you been working for Glen Lodge?
I started as a part-time Wedding and Event Co-ordinator in September 2017 and was then promoted to full-time Wedding and Event Manager in July 2018.
What made you want to join Glen Lodge?
I’ve always loved working in the Hospitality and Event industry, and always dreamed of being able to help plan weddings, so when the opportunity came to join a lovely and friendly team at a beautiful local venue, I jumped at it and never looked back!
What’s the best part of your job?
I absolutely love seeing the progress from first meeting a couple and showing them our lovely venue to overseeing their big day! It’s such a pleasure to be a part of the process and see it all come together exactly how each couple imagined and the feeling you get from it is priceless and so rewarding.
What’s the worst part of your job?
I wouldn’t say there’s necessarily a ‘worst’ part, but the long shifts and unsociable hours that generally come with working in the industry, mean I often don’t get to spend as much time as I would like with my family and friends.
What’s the weirdest request you’ve ever had from a client?
I’ve actually been asked if I could put an inflatable pool in the pond on our 18th hole for the groomsmen to have some group shots in! Safe to say that didn’t exactly comply with our health and safety regulations haha.
What’s been your favourite ever wedding you’ve worked on/at?
Every wedding is my favourite! Each and every wedding is different and completely unique to each couple, so each wedding is my favourite all for different reasons.
You’re surrounded by beauty in your job. What do you find beautiful?
My all-time favourite moment which I find the most beautiful is seeing the looks exchanged between the bride and groom as the bride walks down the aisle – I don’t think there’s much beating that and it always brings a tear to my eye!
Best piece of advice to offer to those getting married.
Sometimes in the planning process it’s easy to forget that the wedding day is solely about the bride and groom and they can occasionally get wrapped up in what they think their family or friends would like. Your wedding day is about you and the love you have for one another, so plan your day exactly how you would like it as that is what you will remember and look back on.
Anyone you particularly admire in the industry?
With my job role I meet so many different suppliers and it is so refreshing to see how many amazing businesses have been created by one sole person, or a couple of people, and to see how they’ve managed to grow their business so successfully. I admire all of the dedication, time and passion that goes into each one of these successful companies and we should do all we can to support them.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“If everything was always perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow”
You – lets have some fun
Where do you call home?
Where you are surrounded by unconditional love.
Let’s be honest.. you can never go wrong with Primark! But Zara is a very close second.
I absolutely love The Wildebeest in Stoke Holy Cross.
Love Actually will always hold a special place in my heart.
Cocktail/Drink of Choice?
Can’t beat a cool (and very large) glass of Pinot Grigio.
What super hero would you like to be and why?
Definitely the flash.. imagine how much I would be able to get done and the places I could go if I could travel that quickly.
Do you collect anything?
Photos! I am such a photo hoarder! I always get photos printed and then never do anything with them, they just sit on my desk for an eternity haha.
What’s the most romantic thing someone’s ever done for you?
For Christmas last year, my partner made me a personalised advent calendar filled with my favourite chocolates and notes to open each day listing all the things he loves about me. It’s fair to say it got me a bit emotional!
Where do you go to let your hair down?
A girly evening down the pub or in a bar is my go to.
Tell us your favourite Instagram accounts at the moment!
My partner and I are in the processing of getting ourselves a new build, so I am obsessed with house accounts at the moment, especially inside.number2 and ourhanburyhome21. I love looking at what other people have done with their new builds and gathering ideas for our own.
If you could change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would love to encourage everyone to be a little more selfless and more kind to others.
I want to say a big thank you to Beckiee for taking the time out and being apart of my blog. I enjoyed getting to know you better and I can not wait for our next wedding together at Glen Lodge. Here are some more beautiful photos taken at Glen Lodge….
